[...] Seth Godin on linchpins, focus, spreading stories It is a short interview with Seth Godin. In response to a question about the book, Seth Godin answers: "The feedback I’m getting is just extraordinary… the book makes people uncomfortable, and many respond by stepping forward, by choosing to do work that matters. And that’s the entire goal of the project. I wanted people to choose." If you can take the time, read the book and write down ideas you can implement. [...]

You know, that could very well be the case. Put another way, everyone wants to be a star. But if everyone is a star, who are the fans? I think it relates to the old pride if workmanship thing that is often associated with blue collar jobs. But surely a middle manager can either do their job well or poorly? But since it's "middle" it's seen as inferior.

We have the same thing in Canada in the political area. Everyone wants to be the leader, or the party in power, and no one wants to roll up their sleeves and get things done.

Well, this is a real stab in the dark I suppose, but could you be on to the reason why we have such a vacuum in the leadership arena? Here in the good ole' USA, the President is supposed to be the penultimate "leader". We haven't had one of those in quite some time and from the looks of things, it will be a while still. Could it be that the reason for this is we all want to lead but nobody wants to follow? Hard to have a tribe without Indians isn't it?

I like the idea of Google+ but right now I find there are too few people using it to make it anything more than an interesting tool to fiddle with. I'm also not sure how I want to use it For me, Facebook is more personal and Twitter more work oriented, though the lines frequently blur.

I also find I'm using social media tools like those much less than previously. Although my blogs keep chugging around (but I seem concentrated on my other one these days). Anyway ... it will be interesting to see how Google+ evolves.
