Double digit nothing

The last few weeks have been characterized by lots to do, a good deal of frustration and, most significantly and surprisingly, reassessment. In other words, I’m over-extended and not in a good way.

I probably have twelve posts on twelve different topics that I have started over the last few weeks, none of which is completed. (Well, one is — but it needs another look, so it isn’t ready either.) I also made a list of what I work on each week, roughly speaking. The number eleven came up. In both cases, unfinished posts and projects, I came up with double digits.

The only place single digits came up was when I looked at things I’m working on that generate revenue. (That’s the subject of one of my unfinished posts.)

That discrepancy between where the double digits appear and the single digits appear is the reason for the reassessment. It strikes me that, as far as revenue goes, I’m into double digit nothing.

The result of it all is that I’m playing a lot of mental ping-pong as I try to arrive at some kind of conclusion about it all and an idea of what “going forward” looks like. At the same time, I’m trying to get stuff done (especially the revenue generating stuff).

And that’s why I’ve been largely silent here on Writelife.

(I have been posting 20 Movies over on my Piddleville blog but that has been relatively less time-involving since it is a bit like reruns of older posts, though hopefully something more than that. The downside there is that it has rekindled my interest and so I’m a bit torn as far as focus goes.)
