Back downtown (Fredericton)
November 11th, 2006 by Bill
I can post this because I’m in a coffee shop in downtown Fredericton making use of the free wireless connection, Fred-eZone. (Except today I took a cab downtown instead of walking. See yesterday’s muddled post.)
I haven’t figured out what the problem is with the connection I had a few days ago from the motel. There was a free wireless network then but now it seems to require a password - at least, I think that’s what the problem is. Unfortunately, the motel is kind of on the outskirts of things so it’s not covered by the free wireless (Fred-eZone).
At the moment, it’s more inconvenient than a real problem. But soon it will be. I’ll need a dependable Internet connection for when I kick back into work mode. One contract alone will require me to be online something like eight hours a day. So finding a permanent residence is a priority so I can get my tech stuff all hooked up (meaning my Internet connection).
As others have noted, one of the best ways to get to know a place is through the cab drivers and that’s certainly been the case here. All very friendly and very chatty and all filled with tidbits about Fredericton. (And the prices are pretty good, too.)
Must take more cabs.

I just realized this blog was on Alberta time. So I’ve updated it to Atlantic time. And this comment is really just me seeing if I figured out the conversion because, Wordpress being Wordpress, it couldn’t have that option set up so an normal person can understand it.
