The post I didn’t post
February 12th, 2006 by Bill
You know, for a blog supposedly focused on writing I don’t seem to do an awful lot of it here, at least not lately.
Today I was going to ramble knowingly about the impact technology (computers primarily) have had on how we write. It would have been very informed and wise – after all, I’ve been doing it long enough, have gone through numerous computers over the years and my somewhat haphazard memory recalls the cries of alarm back when writers began to really start using them. (I found writers, for the most part, took a luddite view of technology – still do to some extent. At least, they seemed to around where I was at the time.)
But … I’ll have to do that another time. Today I was trying to figure out some trackback issues with this WordPress 2.0 thing. At this point, it appears sites can trackback to me but I can’t trackback to them. But I now know what to change and in what files, so I think with some code tweaks I can fix that.
However, I’ll have to be on my other computer to do that since that’s where my ftp access is. (Yes, I could do it on this machine but then I’d have to track down an ftp program I can use on a Mac and … well, maybe some time. Now, it just seems easier to do it on the other computer – the PC.)
I also think I may end up doing another header change soon. Not that I dislike the current one but it does seem a bit cool and impersonal. Very wintry. And the last few days have been bright and sunny and, though there’s still some wintry distance to go, I sense a suspicion of spring in the air these days.
